Celebrating Our Accomplishments as a Community; Savage X Fenty Partnership, Direct Mutual Aid + More

Updated: Jun 27, 2023

The first month of 2022 is almost over and we wanted to take the time to celebrate all of what we’ve collectively accomplished here in our Just For Black Girls Community! JFBG is almost two years old, and we would not have made it this far without all of you. So get ready to give yourself a pat on the back and pop some champagne because we have accomplished A LOT these past two years!!!

Let’s start with our conversations. JFBG was created in the middle of both a global pandemic and a global uprising against white supremacy. The combination of these put an immense strain on the Black Community as a whole, but especially on Black Womxn and Black Queer Womxn. So even though our first conversations covered some extremely difficult topics, we still came together to support each other, and let each other know that we weren’t alone. We helped each other survive with our presence here on this platform, and I’m so proud of us for this.

It’s never easy to acknowledge what brings us pain or has wounded us, but only in this way can we properly treat the wounds and heal. So congrats to us for doing what was immensely difficult but extremely necessary.

As JFBG grew, we decided to expand our ways of helping those in our community. We decided that, while blog posts about spiritual healing, colorism, believing in yourself and radical self-love were helping a lot of people, in this world, nothing helps those in need more than direct mutual aid.

As a result of this effort, we have been able to give so much support to those in our community through the donations we received from our Patreon members in the form of subscriptions. While the names and financial amounts will remain non-disclosed, all we’re gonna say is, congratulations to you all for helping so many Black Womxn and Black Queer Womxn pay their bills, feed themselves and their children, keep a roof over their heads and take care of their mental and physical well-being.

Last, but certainly not least, because of all of the good we are doing here, Sierra and I were given the title of Savage X Fenty Game Changers! Just For Black Girls, we did it, baby! You all did it. Our efforts on here was internationally recognized by one of the biggest fashion brands owned by a Black Woman herself Rihanna 💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾. What an accomplishment! Congratulations y’all. Be proud of yourselves.

Just For Black Girls is now an international community that not only empowers Black Womxn and Black Queer Womxn to live our lives centering our mental health and well-being, but also helps keep us housed, fed and alive. We are an international community that supports each other, and Sierra and I couldn’t ask for this community to be any more than what it has grown to be.

Thank you all. And congratulations again!
