Friday Love Letter

To My Black Girls and Women Struggling with Their Mental Health

I see you. Your anxiety, depression, lack of drive or motivation to be productive or socialize or take care of yourself, is valid. The world is suffering, and you don’t have to feel like you should be using this time to do work. Working on yourself is enough. You are valuable. You exist and you are wanted. You are not a burden, and you deserve to take the time you need to heal. Or maybe you don’t know how to heal right now, and that’s OK, too. Know that you are exactly where you need to be in your journey.

Feel it. Feel the despair. Feel the loneliness. Feel the emptiness and sadness. When you give yourself the ability to wholly feel your emotions, you’re beginning the journey to identify when those emotions arrive in the future, allowing them to be addressed with love and understanding.

So be kind to yourself. It’s not your fault you are experiencing these emotions and feelings. I see you and I’m here if you need me. I love you.

Love,

Azé
